Plaque to honor Capitol police missing
Approaching the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, the official plaque honoring the police who defended democracy that day was nowhere to be found.
At least 11 people from the Jacksonville area were charged in connection with the riot. After being sworn into office again in 2025, Trump pardoned individuals involved in the riot. Those pardoned included individuals who were serving prison sentences, had been recently sentenced, or were facing charges.
