Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared on Saturday that Tehran is effectively locked in a ‘full-fledged war' with the United States, Israel and European powers, accusing them of trying to bring down his government through sustained political, economic and military pressure.
Demonstrations have reached over 170 locations in 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces, the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reported Sunday. The death toll had reached at least 15 killed, it added, with more than 580 arrests. The group, which relies on an activist network inside of Iran for its reporting, has been accurate in past unrest.
The spreading unrest, sparked by economic protests by Tehran shopkeepers, adds to a list of pressures on the regime.
Local lawmakers from both Tennessee and Virginia are reacting on social media regarding the United States airstrikes on Iran. Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee posted on X saying "@realDonaldTrump knows peace can only be achieved through strength.
