As 2026 begins, President Donald Trump's approval ratings have inched upward - with a slight increase in favorable ratings amongst American voters in most recent political polls.
When split by race, white voters were relatively even—42 percent in the approve range, compared to 43 percent in the disapprove. Black respondents leaned more on the disapproving side—at 56 percent—while Hispanics were somewhat torn, with 39 percent approving and 46 percent disapproving.

Trump’s overall average approval rating for his first and second terms (41%) is lower than all presidents dating back to Harry Truman, according to Gallup. Joe Biden had the next lowest average, 42%, followed by Truman (45%) and Jimmy Carter (46%).
