A winter storm sweeping across the state was dumping snow and whipping up gusty winds in northern Arizona, forcing multiple highway closures and travel advisories throughout the region.  Snow moved into the high country early Jan.

Rain and snow will taper off through Friday morning, giving way to a sunny but cool weekend with Valley highs near 60 degrees.

ADOT also reports that the eastbound lanes of I-40 are closed at milepost 160 just west of Williams. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the closure was caused by two jackknifed semi-trucks. No injuries have been reported.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The second of two storm systems to impact Arizona this week is on its way for today. A strong cold front will move through the state this afternoon. Thursday is a First Alert Weather Day.

The first low pressure system will move over southern Arizona as it slides up from the southwest. It will bring rain showers, slightly cooler conditions, and a few snow showers for eastern Arizona.
