Lewis Hall hit the bar for Newcastle, as did Benjamin Sesko for United while Diogo Dalot missed a glorious chance on the counter for the home side. Newcastle were far superior in the second period but lacked quality in the final third and United earned just a second clean sheet of the campaign and a first home win in two months.
